    Treated HfO2 based rram devices with ru, tan, tin as top electrode for in-memory computing hardware

    The scalability and power efficiency of the conventional CMOS technology is steadily coming to a halt due to increasing problems and challenges in fabrication technology. Many non-volatile memory devices have emerged recently to meet the scaling challenges. Memory devices such as RRAMs or ReRAM (Resistive Random-Access Memory) have proved to be a promising candidate for analog in memory computing applications related to inference and learning in artificial intelligence. A RRAM cell has a MIM (Metal insulator metal) structure that exhibits reversible resistive switching on application of positive or negative voltage. But detailed studies on the power consumption, repeatability and retention of during multi-level operation have not been undertaken previously. Transition metal oxide-based RRAMs, using HfO2, executes change in resistance (switching behavior) via electrochemical migration of oxygen vacancies. This thesis investigates the role of extra oxygen vacancies, introduced by plasma exposure (treated), in HfO2 to reduce the power consumption of RRAM. In addition to oxygen vacancy rich HfO2, various top metal electrodes including Ruthenium (Ru) are explored to enhance the switching behavior and power consumption. Use of Ru as a top metal reduced the switching energy of the treated HfO2 RRAM device

    Fertility preservation in non-seminomatous germ cell tumor: a case report

    Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) are the most common malignancy in young men in their peak fertility years. It can intrinsically and permanently affect fertility potential of an individual. Clinicians are advised to offer Fertility Preservation before initiating the treatment. We present one such case of presence of Neoplasm in testis, where semen was cryopreserved before operating it for fertility preservation and biological pregnancy was achieved. On further investigations, presence of neoplasm on left testis was diagnosed. However, neoplasms of the testes are unique in that way they affect men at a young age and also have a high survival rates. Cryopreservation of ejaculated or surgically retrieved sperm is currently the only established method of fertility preservation for post-pubertal man. The incidence as well as rates for testicular cancers have remained relatively low and if presented early on, can be cured and has good survival rates.     Acute kidney injury requiring dialysis in obstetric patients: management and clinical outcome in case series of 30 patients in a tertiary care centre

    Background: Acute Kidney Injury is a common medical problem affecting approximately 5% of all hospitalized and 30% of critically ill patients. The incidence in obstetric patients ranges from 1 in 2000 to 1 in 25000 pregnancies. In India till date, the impact of AKI on fetomaternal outcome and pertaining therapeutic interventions is only sparsely studied.Methods: It is a retrospective cross-sectional study. All obstetric patients with AKI on dialysis, admitted to Shree Krishna Hospital, a tertiary care hospital in Karamsad village in Gujarat from January 2013 to August 2015. Multivariate statistical analysis of clinical and laboratory parameters was performed using SPSS program to obtain the results.Results: The incidence of dialysis was 1.6%. HELLP syndrome and pre-eclampsia (80%) was found to be the most common etiology of AKI followed by Congestive cardiac failure (34.5%), hemorrhage and sepsis in 30% resp. All patients were admitted to ICU care. No significant difference was found between SAP II and SOFA monitoring system. Mechanical ventilation was done to support 53.3% and inotropic support was needed by 56.7% patients. According to the RIFLE criteria, majority of the patients fall under risk category followed by injury. 18% of the patients developed End Stage Renal Disease.Conclusions: In view of the multifaceted etiologies and complexity of management of AKI, a multi-disciplinary approach involving nephrologist, intensivists, obstetricians and neonatologists is extremely important

By its hot potency it has some local action like Sphotjananam (Ushna-Virya). An number of Ayurvedic formulation includes this drug after the proper Shodhana (purification) as in judicious use of Asuddha (impure) Bhallataka may results in toxic effect like burning sensation of skin blister formation, ulcer and so on.     WiscSort: External Sorting For Byte-Addressable Storage

    We present WiscSort, a new approach to high-performance concurrent sorting for existing and future byte-addressable storage (BAS) devices. WiscSort carefully reduces writes, exploits random reads by splitting keys and values during sorting, and performs interference-aware scheduling with thread pool sizing to avoid I/O bandwidth degradation. We introduce the BRAID model which encompasses the unique characteristics of BAS devices. Many state-of-the-art sorting systems do not comply with the BRAID model and deliver sub-optimal performance, whereas WiscSort demonstrates the effectiveness of complying with BRAID. We show that WiscSort is 2-7x faster than competing approaches on a standard sort benchmark. We evaluate the effectiveness of key-value separation on different key-value sizes and compare our concurrency optimizations with various other concurrency models. Finally, we emulate generic BAS devices and show how our techniques perform well with various combinations of hardware properties

    Surrogacy is an important method of assisted reproductive technology wherein a woman carries pregnancy for another couple. Number of couples around the world require surrogacy services for various reasons. Although this arrangement seems to be beneficial for all parties concerned, there are complex social, ethical, moral, and legal issues associated with it. It is these complexities that have made this practice unpopular in many parts of the world. Surrogacy in India has had its own journey from India becoming popular as a surrogacy center since 2002 to the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2016, which would restrict the option of surrogacy for many. Surrogacy is an important medical service for all those couples who would otherwise not have been able to produce a child. Surrogacy would be practiced harmoniously if delicate issues associated with surrogacy will be addressed properly through appropriately framed laws which would protect the rights of surrogate mothers, intended parents, and child born through surrogacy

    A Large-Scale Dataset of Search Interests Related to Disease X Originating from Different Geographic Regions

    The World Health Organization (WHO) added Disease X to their shortlist of blueprint priority diseases to represent a hypothetical, unknown pathogen that could cause a future epidemic. During different virus outbreaks of the past, such as COVID-19, Influenza, Lyme Disease, and Zika virus, researchers from various disciplines utilized Google Trends to mine multimodal components of web behavior to study, investigate, and analyze the global awareness, preparedness, and response associated with these respective virus outbreaks. As the world prepares for Disease X, a dataset on web behavior related to Disease X would be crucial to contribute towards the timely advancement of research in this field. Furthermore, none of the prior works in this field have focused on the development of a dataset to compile relevant web behavior data, which would help to prepare for Disease X. To address these research challenges, this work presents a dataset of web behavior related to Disease X, which emerged from different geographic regions of the world, between February 2018 and August 2023. Specifically, this dataset presents the search interests related to Disease X from 94 geographic regions. These regions were chosen for data mining as these regions recorded significant search interests related to Disease X during this timeframe. The dataset was developed by collecting data using Google Trends. The relevant search interests for all these regions for each month in this time range are available in this dataset. This paper also discusses the compliance of this dataset with the FAIR principles of scientific data management. Finally, an analysis of this dataset is presented to uphold the applicability, relevance, and usefulness of this dataset for the investigation of different research questions in the interrelated fields of Big Data, Data Mining, Healthcare, Epidemiology, and Data Analysis with a specific focus on Disease X

    Introduction: Backache and sciatic pain are routinely seen in day-to-day practice. In all urban settings with changed lifestyle, lack of exercise, bad posture, excessive use of vehicles, and disturbed nutrition; problem of discogenic backache and sciatica is on the rise. The treatment modalities vary from conservative to surgical methods, but they predominantly provide relief to leg pain and not back pain. Nerve root block acts at these inflammatory processes, by the action of the steroid and thus decreasing the chemical irritation to the nerve roots. Furthermore, there is a decrease in sensitization of dorsal horn neurons by bupivacaine. Aims and Objectives: To evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy of root block procedure. To study relief in terms of pain alleviation, activities of daily living, and straight leg raising (SLR) restriction. Materials and Methods: Retrospective study of fifty patients of sciatic radiculopathy between the ages of 20 and 60 years were evaluated under this study at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College and Research Centre, Pune. All the patients of different age and sex had radicular pain with or without back pain, restricted spinal mobility, positive active and passive SLR test, and other nerve tension signs. Results: Out of fifty patients selected after thorough clinical and radiological examination, 45 (90%) had enjoyed complete pain relief and 31 (62%) of which were completely symptom-free at the end of 1 year. Conclusion: Spinal nerve root block may provide lasting therapeutic benefit, allowing the patient to participate in physical therapy and early  return to routine activities saving working manpower hours
